MAMMA MIA! is one of the best-known musicals in the world. It has been performed in 16 different languages around the world but never before in Finnish. Producers ACE-Production Ltd and PER SE Produktion Ab wanted to give Finns the MAMMA MIA! experience in their own mother tongue.

The MAMMA MIA! musical premiered in the renewed amphitheatre of Messukeskus in May 2018. The aim was to provide the best possible musical experience for the Finnish audience and make MAMMA MIA! the most anticipated and popular musical theatre production of the year.

“There were 32 performances in a month. All expectations were exceeded: we had 94,000 spectators and about 1.3 million euros of profit. This is a clear sign that our goals met the expectations of the Finnish audience.”

The Hursti Association

Veikko and Lahja Hursti’s Charitable Association was founded by Veikko Hursti, the Counsellor of Social Welfare. The organisation began its operations in the 1960s and is currently run by Veikko’s son, Heikki Hursti. The organisation distributes clothes and food for those in need around the year and organises various events. The operation is funded solely by donations.

On Christmas Eve 2018, the Hursti Association organised a Christmas celebration for the lonely and socially excluded at Messukeskus. The aim was to bring Christmas to those who could not otherwise celebrate it, through a warm Christmas meal and atmosphere. The celebration left all participants in cheerful spirits and with full stomachs.

“We could not have made this happen without volunteers and our partners. For us, it is enough to receive thanks from the customers and see them smile and enjoy the celebration.”

Sweco Structures Ltd

Sweco is an expert on built environments and industry which creates healthy and safe buildings, efficient infrastructure and sustainable water supply solutions. With the help of its 15,000 employees, Sweco carries out projects in over 70 countries annually throughout the world, making it Europe’s leading design and consultation expert company.

In May 2018, Sweco organised #Swecoinn, a unique innovation challenge in Asikkala’s Lehmonkärki. The aim of the weekend-long hackathon was to discover new talent among the young experts and students, as well as strengthen Sweco’s link to the future by giving 33 young experts 48 hours to showcase their skills and convince Sweco’s decision-makers.

#Swecoinn proved that a lot can be achieved in 48 hours when planning is efficient and people are committed to their roles. The whole board of directors was very pleased with the results and solution suggestions of all groups. We felt that all participating groups were winners, but in the end three groups were chosen to develop their ideas further with Sweco.

“The groups were continuously inspired and challenged which clearly helped them achieve better results. We wanted to organise an event that would differ from others in terms of content and visual appeal, as well as emphasise our views on the future of recruiting practices. We managed to do just that.”
